Photographer Philip Karlberg decided to explore the idea of pin or stick art. This was a concept Karlberg had in mind for years but he couldn’t find a purpose for it. He then did a test photoshoot that incorporated sunglasses and the final product was to his liking. Karlberg sent the test image over to Plaza Magazine and the rest, as they say, is history. Less than a week later Plaza commissioned a full photoshoot in which he sculpted the faces of six well-known classic wearers of sunglasses over the course of six days, using around 1,200 sticks.
