For 110 years the American brewery industry has gone through a roller coaster of ups and downs, but has hoofed it through it all so we could sip some of the finest brews at some of this countries finest establishments. From the days of Old West Saloons to the speakeasy era of prohibition to 80′s night at Rock Bottom sponsored by Pi Kappa Phi. The people over at Visual.ly have created a motion graphic telling the story of the who shabazz.

According to this video 100 years ago there were over 1,750 breweries active in the U.S. until prohibition which caused most to shut down, forcing local patrons to craft beers in their homes. After prohibition, the major breweries took over and and the country saw a major decline in craft breweries because of consolidation. It wasn’t until the 1990′s came around when we saw a huge incline until now, where the number is back up to its original number right around 1,750.
