The Killers much anticipated 4th album drops today and has the lyrics of frontman, Brandon Flowers, fighting for rock’ n’ roll to stay alive. The album sounds familiar with those subtle hints of U2 guitar riffs and Springstein’s story boarded lyrics, while sticking to the ominous keyboard sound they know best.
This past summer the charts were saturated with alternative indy folk and a electro-pop-hip-hop conglomerate that all but made us want to throw it up before regurgitating it again and again over the days of summer. But now, alas, it’s fall and time for some good ol’ rock. So now I ask; With the Foo all but retired, have The Killers become the new saving grace of popular rock? Bending the rules with their synth accents and eclectic undertones, but never really changing the way they do business. Doesn’t really matter. Battle Born is good used-to rock worth a check out. The Killers play The Paradise Theater in the boogie down BX tonight for a intimate show and open up to director, Werner Herzog for their album release that will be live streamed on Youtube. Key songs; Runaways, Prize Fighter, Flesh and Bone.
