We loaded up a 30-foot RV with six of our friends and are taking a 700-mile road trip down to Charlotte, NC for the Bank of America 500 NASCAR race. For everyone in the RV, this will be their first NASCAR experience. What we know. #1 not many people in the New York City area have too much interest in watching cars go left for 500 straight miles. #2 the tailgate scene is second to none and it’s something we need to experience. Now the ball is in NASCAR’s court to turn us into fans.

What do we have in store for this weekend? First off, we went to Wal-Mart in Roanoke, VA and purchased 300 beers and about 50 pounds of steak, hamburger, sausage and hot dogs. Did I mention we also made 125 jell-O shots? Apparently that is a major tradition in Charlotte.

NASCAR also hooked us up with an epic tailgate spot in the infield, right on the track, so we’ll be flipping burgers and watching cars rip by our face from our lawn chairs on top of the RV at 200 MPH.  Boom.  We’ll be posting photos to our Instagram all weekend so make sure you follow along @RSVLTS.

Beyond all the festivities we can’t forget that there is a massive Sprint Car race taking place in primetime. NASCAR is giving us an all-access pass to the day’s events on Saturday. This includes, amongst many other things, a ride around the track in the Pace Car, a tour of the garage before the race,  sit in on the pre-race inspections and driver instructions and interviews with racers and NASCAR officials.
