Michael Paul Smith is some sort of wizard. There’s just no other way to explain how he can take photos of models and make them look incredibly lifelike. Every car in these photos is a model and many of the sets are also miniatures. Through mastery of close-up photography, Smith is able to trick us into thinking we’re looking at real life photos of yesteryear. He builds all the models and miniatures himself, too. Last time I tried to build a model I cried because I got a little plastic steering wheel glued to my fingertip. I was 12. Check out Michael Paul Smith’s flickr for a ton of pictures, including some of his set-ups to give you a sense of scale.
