The Boston Red Sox may have lost the Division Series to the Cleveland Indians, but their biggest loss this season was that of designated hitter David Ortiz. After 19 seasons in the MLB, Big Papi retired at the end of the season, with a respectable .286 average, 541 career home runs (17th on the MLB all-time home run list), and 1,768 RBIs (22nd all-time). And in honor of the best clutch hitter of his generation, Sam Adams Boston Brewery is making a special, limited brew in his honor, Big Hapi.
Big Hapi is a “heavy-hitting” double IPA made with more than five pounds of hops per barrel, dry-hopped with five American hop varieties from the Pacific Northwest and infused with mango juice. But if you want to get your hands on one, get to Boston. Quick.
Big Hapi will only be available at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery on Friday, November 4. Fans can start lining up at 2 PM with the first sales starting at 4 PM. Only 541 bottles of Big Hapi, in honor of Ortiz’s 541 homers, will be available and number 34 is already reserved for Ortiz himself, so don’t dawdle! There is a strict limit of one bottle per customer, with each bottle costing $29.99 and all proceeds from the sale going to The David Ortiz Children’s Fund.
