On September 12, 2015, Floyd Mayweather beat Andre Berto at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, earning his 49th win. After the match, he announced his retirement. We all hoped it would be the last we heard from the admittedly great but also insanely annoying boxer. We were not so lucky.
It seems like every few months Mayweather does something to get some attention. Whether teasing a return to the ring or showing off his ridiculous wealth, he clearly misses being in the spotlight yet refuses to actually, you know, box. Today everyone is talking about him because he just showed off the check he received after fighting Manny Pacquiao — a check made out for a cool $100 million.
Is this a tease for a rematch with Pacquiao, who recently returned to boxing? Most definitely. Will it happen? Probably not, but yet again Mayweather is getting the attention he wants without having to actually do anything.
Gotta love these backseat drivers so worried about another man's legacy instead of trying to write their own. Ultimately, I will always have the last laugh. This is just one of my many checks, a cool $100,000,000.00 that I still have every dime of. Y'all still have to work however, I'm happily retired. At the end of the day, it's them Benjamin Franklins that matter to me, so the jokes on you. I've made smart investments, sorry for those who thought that I couldn't read, write, or count. Y'all call them watches, I call them time pieces. Y'all call them boats, I call them yachts. Y'all call them houses, I call them mansions. Y'all charter jets and we own jets. #TMT
