Celebrate 70 Years Of The US Air Force With These Incredible Posters

Although the United States Army created the first antecedent of the Air Force in 1907 with the Aeronautical Division of the US Army Signal Corps, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on September 18, 1947, under the National Security Act of 1947. That means that 2017 is a big year for the Air Force, celebrating its 70th anniversary.

In honor of this milestone, the USAF has created a special “birthday” website. Over the course of the year, the site will be updated with information about heroes and technology of the USAF along with videos and other media, including original posters.

The first batch of these incredible posters has recently been released, featuring three works celebrating the early years of the Air Force from 1947 to 1960. Check them out below and download the full sized images from USAF.
