Last year, Nintendo officially brought back its first console, the Nintendo Entertainment System, as the NES Mini, a holiday must-have featuring 30 classic games preloaded on an NES that fits in the palm of your hand. It was a huge success with each shipment selling out immediately. Unfortunately, Nintendo recently announced that it won’t be producing any more of the novelty consoles. But if the newest rumors are true, we’re okay with that.
So why would Nintendo halt production of such a hot item? Because an SNES Mini is coming. Eurogamer is reporting that Nintendo is already working on a mini Super Nintendo to be released in time for the 2017 holiday season. No word yet on what games will come preloaded, but expect classics like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, F-Zero and Starfox. Let’s just hope Nintendo makes enough of them for all of us to get one.
