Gary Oldman Is Unrecognizable As Winston Churchill In The First Trailer For ‘Darkest Hour’

Gary Oldman, the versatile English actor known for such roles as Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy, Count Dracula in Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight Trilogy, may finally receive a much-deserved Oscar. That’s because for the upcoming Darkest Hour, Oldman has transformed himself in Winston Churchill.

World War II historical films are usually Oscar gold, as are films where big name actors undergo a huge transformation for their role. Put them both together and you have Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour, which tells the story of Winston Churchill’s early days as Prime Minister of the UK. Shortly after taking the position, he is tasked with “exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.” Heavy stuff and Oldman is totally unrecognizable.
