I was a huge Star Wars fan as a kid. I ended up buying the trilogy on VHS three times because of remasters and “special editions.” I had all the toys. I had t-shirts and bedsheets. Star Wars was my life. Then Episode I came out and…I was done.
By the time the prequel series ended, I had lost all interest in Star Wars. Although the new Disney films have been enjoyable, they just haven’t sucked me back in to the Star Wars universe, and I was beginning to think nothing ever would. I was wrong.
A while back, Disney announced the creation of a 60,000 square yards Star Wars-themed land at both California’s Disneyland and Florida’s Disney World and on Thursday, we finally got a glimpse of what it will look like:
Sure, it’s just a model, but there’s no doubt that Disney won’t come through and make this a life-size reality by the 2019 opening. And I know I’ll be there with a walletful of cash, buying everything with Boba Fett at the Cantina. It’s what 10-year-old me would have wanted.
