Enzo Ferrari famously called the Jaguar E-type Roadster “the most beautiful car in the world” when it was originally unveiled in 1961. More than half a century later, Jaguar is bringing the E-type into the 21st century with the all-electric E-type Zero.
Although the E-type Zero looks just like its gasoline counterpart on the outside, under the hood — or bonnet — it’s an all new beast.
The E-type Zero is 100 pounds lighter than a standard E-type which helps it go from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.5 seconds — not quite Tesla speeds but still damn impressive. The 40kWh battery that can be fully recharged in six to seven hours and has a real-world range of about 170 miles.
There are no words on pricing or availability but this seems to be more than your average concept vehicle. Hopefully some wealthy Jaguar enthusiasts will push for its production after seeing the E-type Zero in person at the Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest at Central Saint Martins in London September 8 through 10.
