  • New Orleans Jazz Fest 2015 Announced

Don’t let the name fool you, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival isn’t strictly a jazz show (although there’s plenty of that, too). With such diverse headliners as The Who, Elton John, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, No Doubt, Jimmy Buffett, Pitbull, Keith Urban, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, T.I., and Chicago, there’s something for everyone at the festival, taking place over two weekends between April 24 and May 3. Of course, if you’re a fan of New Orleans natives, there’s plenty of them on the bill, too. Dr. John, The Meters, Allen Toussaint, Aaron Neville, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are just a few of the local greats who will be there. And as far as big-name music festivals go, the New Orleans Jazz Fest is still one of the most economical options around. Advance tickets start at just $58 for single-day admission. For more info, including ticket options, check out New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

  • Bonnaroo 2014 Lineup Announced

The Bonnaroo lineup for 2014 was announced last night via a frenetic video featuring Taran Killam and Hannibal Buress. Many of the artists are no huge surprise, such as Kanye, The Flaming Lips, and CHVRCHES, but there are a few you don’t usually see on the festival circuit. Elton John, Lionel Richie, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are some of the more interesting acts to perform at the festival, held in Manchester, Tennessee June 12-15. Somewhat surprisingly, this may be one of the only festivals without the newly reunited Outkast. If that’s not a deal breaker, be sure to get ready to scoop up tickets when they go on sale Saturday at noon. For more info, check out Bonnaroo.

  • The Lost and Found of Coachella 2013

Every year the Coachella cleanup crew finds hundreds of wallets, ID cards, bags, sunglasses and other valuable handheld items strewn around Indio’s iconic polo fields. The event organizer Goldenvoice displays all the lost goods on their website, describing them as “casualties to a weekend of hard partying; a rare chance to root around people’s pockets without them knowing” (weirdly, “young men from Australia and New Zealand have an especially hard time holding onto their driver’s licenses”). Goldenvoice waits three months before donating everything to charity, so you’ve got about five weeks left.

It is one of the coolest festivals in America and this experimental video called “A Burning Man for Ants” is a time-lapse video of Burning Man that, thanks to tilt-shift photography, gives the art event a whimsical miniature quality. The video was created by James Cole, Byron Mason & Jason Phipps.

  • Scenes from Austria’s Snowbombing Music Festival 2012

As the 2012 spring music festival series hits full stride we go from one end of the heat spectrum, Coachella in the dusty Palm Springs desert to the complete opposite, Snowbombing Music Festival in the snow-covered mountains of Austria. The festival saw snow bunnies and bros take the lifts up the mountain for a weekend full of great DJs, action sports and stiff drinks poured from bartenders manning bars cut right into the icy mountain. The visuals are stunning and promoters have already announced that the festival will be back in 2013.
