He’s quirky, he drinks too much wine, he loves New York state and he is one talented musician. Anyone can sound incredible in a studio track but Billy Joel does his finest work when he is performing in front of thousands at an arena or shining in front of a just few. Today is Billy’s 63rd birthday so we look at his finest live moments.
Jimmy Fallon is set to release his first album in over a decade on June 12th. Titled ‘Blow Your Pants Off,’ the album will feature some of the biggest names in music including Justin Timberlake, Paul McCartney, Eddie Vedder, Bruce Springsteen and many more.
First there was Napster. Possibly the most famous street crossing of all time, Abbey Road installed a live webcam this year, captivating the hoards of daily fans who come to pay tribute, take pictures and reenact the infamous 1969 album cover to the Beatles “Abbey Road” EP. The iconic zebra crossing is flooded daily by fans by the fours up to the hundreds recreating iconic crosswalk album cover. The Camera was installed at Abbey Road Studios, the studio credited for creating most of the Beatles albums and singles. The Studio itself draws enough attention and its low wall has become a fan whiteboard for years, getting a new paint job every month, so visitors can leave their stamp and pay homage to the band who started it all. Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys has passed away today at 47. It is a sad day in music so to pay tribute we pulled together a playlist tribute of a few of their greatest hits.
50 years ago Brian Jones, Ian Stewart, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger formed a band in London called The Rolling Stones. Half a century later the band is still going strong and sits atop the music mountain as one of the most iconic rock groups of all-time. The hottest music streaming service out now is Spotify. Though it launched in 2008, it wasn’t until last summer that the Swedish start-up made its way stateside. The Icelandic Indie/Folk band’s new single, “Little Talks”, has the potential to be stuck in your head for most of the summer. The six person band came out of the blue with this smash hit song after gathering up and ’09 and taking the Icland music scene by storm. Gordon Bombay and The Ducks might be the only ones who can stop these vikings. Contrary to rumors, Wolf “The Dentist” Stansson is not the tambourinist. As the 2012 spring music festival series hits full stride we go from one end of the heat spectrum, Coachella in the dusty Palm Springs desert to the complete opposite, Snowbombing Music Festival in the snow-covered mountains of Austria. The festival saw snow bunnies and bros take the lifts up the mountain for a weekend full of great DJs, action sports and stiff drinks poured from bartenders manning bars cut right into the icy mountain. The visuals are stunning and promoters have already announced that the festival will be back in 2013.

Week one of Coachella Arts and Music Festival is officially in the books. The hologram performance from Tupac was definitely the winner of the weekend – watch the HD video here. If you weren’t able to make it out this past weekend head down to Indio, CA because they are doing it all over again next weekend – same line-up and everything. Celebrities were out in full force, The Hoff was spotted amongst the crown, and so were the Coachella girls in bikinis. The weather didn’t exactly cooperate the first two days, windy with some rain but it didn’t seem to dampen the moods of the party goers as you’ll see in the following pictures.
Coachella is like Halloween. It’s an excuse for everyone to get blasted, dance to music, hit the dozens of local pool parties and for girls to wear what ever they damn please. With temperatures in the mid-80′s naturally several thousands in the crowd opted for maximum sun exposure and dusted off the bikini. Why not, if you’re gonna let your freak flag fly why not do it while looking good. Today Guyism gave you the 200 Women of Coachella but we’ve decided to narrow it down even more and give you the bikini girls of the 2012 Coachella music festival and pool parties.
2Pac was resurrecting via hologram to perform at Coachella. He performed a few of his greatest hits including “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted” with Snoop Dogg. The hologram is remarkably realistic and Pac even pulls off a few signature moves. Take a look for yourself.
M83 is definitely one of our favorite new bands on the scene. I say new because the band has been making music for over a decade but it wasn’t until M83′s latest album “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming” was released in October 2011 that we really caught wind of them – better late than never, right? Here is video from their entire Coachella set. At one point Katy Perry jumps up on stage to make a quick guest appearance. On it’s surface a Katy Perry appearance sounds like it could have really lamed out their set but it only added to the fun.
