  • Spring Wedding Cufflink Guide

Brace yourselves. Spring weddings are upon us. Embrace it. Have a little fun with it. A good spring tie is a must have, but unless you’re wacky Uncle Howie, you’ll want to be somewhat conservative with your choice. Subtlety is key and you don’t want to be that guy upstaging the bride and groom with his loud tie and questionable sense of humor. Cufflinks, on the other hand, are fair game. Since they’re somewhat concealed, cufflinks can be as tasteful or fun as you want. Esty is a good place to start looking, offering some one of a kind, unique choices.

  • Bell & Ross Aviation B01 Collection (Watch Wednesday)

Bell & Ross timepieces are synonymous with aviation and to pay homage, last year created a series of watches mimicking the gauges in a cockpit. This year they’re back with Indicator, Climb and Airspeed model gauge watches. The indicator is interesting enough for a conversation starter, the yellow triangle normally pointing in the right direction, now serves as an hour marker, a second disc showing the minute and the third disc in the center serves as a second hand. The Airspeed and Climb have a more traditional three hand model. Each watch is limited to 999 pieces and is cased in black steel.

  • Photo of the Day: The Terminator Line

Explanation: No sudden, sharp boundary marks the passage of day into night in this gorgeous view of ocean and clouds over our fair planet Earth. Instead, the shadow line or terminator is diffuse and shows the gradual transition to darkness we experience as twilight. With the Sun illuminating the scene from the right, the cloud tops reflect gently reddened sunlight filtered through the dusty troposphere, the lowest layer of the planet’s nurturing atmosphere. A clear high altitude layer, visible along the dayside’s upper edge, scatters blue sunlight and fades into the blackness of space. This picture actually is a single digital photograph taken in June of 2001 from the International Space Station orbiting at an altitude of 211 nautical miles. • The Sandlot & PF Flyers Team Up for The 20th Anniversary Edition

PF Flyers and 20th Century Fox have teamed up for the release of the limited edition PF Flyers. Yes the ones that let Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez jump higher and run faster and retrieve the priceless Babe Ruth ball from the lair of The Beast. To me it’s amazing how The Sandlot doesn’t have a 100 on Rotten Tomatoes. It was by far the quintessential 90′s kid movie for everyone I’ve ever came in contact with. The movie was full of lessons that paved the way for manhood. Smalls having the guts to jump into the lions den to make friends. Squints having the stones to scheme a plan to get the smoke show of a lifetime and of course Benny taking on the Beast in the most epic chase scene ever to grace the silver screen.

  • The Overview Effect: An Out-of-Planet Experience

The words “awe” and “awesome” tend to suffer from overuse, and people use them to refer to a television show, a pair of designer shoes or even a celebrity crush. Anyone who watches the 19-minute film “Overview,” from the terribly clever people at the Planetary Collective, will surely be reminded of the original definitions of those two words. The Planetary Collective released the film on the 40th anniversary of the iconic photograph of Earth taken from space referred to as the “Blue Marble.” Its intention was to explain the Overview Effect, a term first used in 1987 by space theorist and author Frank White to explain the life-changing and perspective-altering experiences that astronauts have upon seeing the Earth from space. The collective interviewed White, five astronauts who have experienced the Overview Effect and two philosophers. The astronauts describe looking down at the Earth and marveling at the colors and motion produced from shooting stars, dancing curtains of auroras, thunderstorms and lights from major cities, all of which render the blue marble “hanging there” on this star-covered black canvas alive and, well, awesome. Being outside of the planet and looking down on it is not only an overwhelming experience that reminds more »

  • Bombs Away: The Spring ’13 Bomber Jacket

The bomber jacket is back for spring. A great transitional jacket between the frigid winter days and sweltering summer days. The bomber jacket exploded in the 90′s, after rappers like Nas and Biggie made it a staple in their wardrobe, but has died out since. The retro fighter pilot outerwear is making a comeback on the style scene and this spring is the go to jacket. You can’t walk into a men’s wear store without seeing a bomber these days, but were featuring five specific jackets that are affordable, quality made, with a modern fit.

For good quality sound within a relatively small dwelling space the aesthetics and sound quality with ipod docks are skyrocketing. Full surround sound speakers aren’t worth the time and installment for an apartment or humble siez living quarters. The Transparent Speaker also blends in to any living environment with very subtle black accents. Transparent Speaker

  • Ochs Und Junior Date (Watch Wednesday)

Watch innovator and minimalist, Ludwig Oechslin, created an entire new way for timepieces to display dates. This innovative function rids the watch of any alpha numeric display, which gives back to the aesthetics of the watch itself. The 31 date perforations, arranged as a gentle spiral, are ingeniously aligned with the indices for easy readability. The date is recognized purely by position. Increasing subtly in length as the spiral progresses, the 10-minute indices mark the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th on the month. The 31st and 1st are in line with each other. Each watch is fully customizable in band color, face color and accent color.
