    It is the middle of summer Down Under and tempretures are soaring. Four of the county’s hottest 10 days on record have been in 2013. With that, brush fires are spreading across the entire country. These fires are fueled by dry land and high winds. Hundreds of thousands of acres have been burned and 35,000 firefighters are battling the raging infernos. Most news agencies are reporting on the fact that 2012 was the warmest year on record in the United States but they aren’t talking about Australia but the pictures are shocking.

    [ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: October 30, 2012] Hurricane Sandy was the most powerful storm to ever make landfall on the United States east coast, north of the Carolinas. It hit southern New Jersey at 6.30pm local time and laid waste to the majority of the Northeast during the day. Currently 48 people across the US and Canada have been reported dead, but the final figure is expected to be significantly higher.  Hundreds of thousands of people are without power in New York and the transit system, schools, the stock exchange and Broadway are all out of action after a 13ft wall of water caused by the storm surge and high tides brought severe flooding to subways and road tunnels.     What a night! The timing of RSVLTS.com’s trip to San Francisco couldn’t have been any better. First off, we left NYC only hours before Hurricane Sandy hit, WTF. We also arrived in time to celebrate the Giants beating the Tigers to win their second World Series in three years. Lucky for us our hotel was about half a block from the impromptu fan riot at the intersection of 3rd Street and Market Street. Obviously we bolted out of the hotel with camera in hand to cover the action. There are three types of people at any fan riot. Observers, instigators and idiots. The observers sit on the sidelines watching the action. In the case of San Francisco, 90% of them were smoking the weed. There were also plenty of people capturing the hooliganism on their iPads, which was a hilarious sight that felt perfectly cliche in San Francisco. Then you have the instigators and the idiots. The two go hand-in-hand. The instigators are the guys yelling f”–k the police” for no apparent reason and giving glass bottles to drunk idiots and daring him to throw it.     Come Tuesday, weather permitting, Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner will attempt to be the first person to break the sound barrier in free fall. The mission will take Felix 23 miles above Earth in a small space capsule. He will then step out of the capsule and plunge to Earth hoping to reach speeds that exceed 690 mph. The vessel is rigged with 15 cameras so that the entire Red-Bull sponsored event can be broadcast live online. It’s an unthinkably dangerous stunt that will test the limits of the human body in one of the most brutal environments: Air pressure is practically nonexistent and temperatures can sink to negative 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Our friends at BusinessInsider put together an interesting compilation to show you how the stunt will happen step by step.
