Derp! Well, that wasn’t awkward… While Erin Andrews was searching to interview Danica Patrick, 50 Cent stumbled into the frame and what followed was a very uncomfortable moment for everyone.

More than a dozen fans were injured after a horrific car crash on the final lap of the Nationwide race at Daytona. The crash, occurring moments before the end of the Nationwide race Saturday at Daytona, caused Kyle Larson’s car to become airborne into the frontstretch catch fencing, shearing off the front half of the car and leaving large pieces of the vehicle inside the fencing. Watch ESPN’s recap of the crash… And watch first-hand footage of the entire frontend of Larson’s car flying into the crowd. UPDATE: Fan safety is a huge issue for NASCAR and they obviously don’t want this graphic footage on the web so it has been removed from YouTube. If we find any additional footage we’ll surely post it.

Our bro Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. went head-to-head with fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series driver Trevor Bayne in The Valvoline NextGen Undercover Salesman Challenge to see if they can get drivers to try NextGen recycled motor oil. Ricky and Trevor cannot reveal their names as they trade their driving skills for counterman skills to see who can be the better auto parts salesman.

Every sport has its stereotypes. Stereotypes of fans, of atmosphere at a game and of the sport itself. NASCAR is no different. For years, those stereotypes have been repelling a certain demographic, who would stipulate it as redundant and rural. As it seems now, NASCAR is on a mission to change its image for the better, by doing what they do best, being NASCAR. On the surface, NASCAR is simple, fun and casual. But dig a little deeper and you’ll see it turns into much more than a sport of driving around an oval. It becomes a competition of engineering, calculation and details of such precision it’s almost, dare I say, art. So when NASCAR asked us to come join them at a race for the Sprint Cup Series, we accepted, but wanted to do it right. A handful of our RSVLTS editors and staff came on the trip, keeping an open mind, by traveling via RV from NYC to one of the Mecca’s of competitive racing, Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Bank of America 500. Now be mindful, we’re journalists. But in the unique angle of this story, we felt obligated to “scrapbook” the visuals and give the reader the more »

After RV’ing to Charlotte this weekend for the Bank of America 500 I can tell you this article from Fast Company is spot-on. Personal access is the entry point for growing any brand. Here’s how NASCAR creates memorable brand-fan connections–and ideas for how your company can put the pedal to the metal as well.

This weekend we are taking an epic RV trip down to Charlotte, NC for the Bank of America 500. There will be eight of us making the trip and none of us have ever been to a NASCAR race. Safe to say I think we are in for an eye opening trip full of infield tailgating, jell-O shots, lawn chairs on the roof of the RV, tailgate games, BBQ’ing plenty of “Denny Hamlin” burgers and more. We’ll be posting plenty of photos and video along the way so stay tuned. In the mean time we interviewed NASCAR stud Denny Hamlin so check it out below.
