  • We Talk Music, Being a Dick and Space Travel With Shaun White

Stride and 7-11 teamed up to release the official gum flavor of Shaun White called Mintacular. We got to talkin with Mr. White about his passion for The Black Keys, some other tunes he listens to while on the slopes and how big of a jerk he was in Friends with Benefits. For being a sponsored pro snowboarded for more than half of his life, the brah was a pretty down to Earth brah. The kid’s got charisma and a seasoned vet at making the camera his best friend. Travis Pastrana is safe as the world’s Swiss Army knife of extreme sport athletes for now, because White is too busy with the two sports he already dominates. Although the idea of space travel did tickle his mustache, he’s content with being on a board with gravity holding him down just enough so he can pull off some serious air on the pipe. On the topic of medals and competing, he went into a zone and for a minute, you saw the focus in him. That determination you’d expect from the best snowboarder in the world and not the guy who looks like the kid you bought purple haze from on more »

  • A Recent History of NFL Players Going Broke

With news of Vince Young losing all of his massive $26 million signing bonus we have to look at an epidemic hitting the NFL hard. The NFL is full of cash-burning, hard-partying maniacs who think a diversified portfolio means having a Louis Vuitton shoulder bag in monogram canvas and damier azur. The result? According to Sports Illustrated, 78-percent of NFL players are close to or are in bankruptcy within two years of their retirement. And with the reported economic troubles of league stars like Warren Sapp, Mike Vick, and Terrell Owens grabbing headlines, the 2004 Pro Bowl roster is starting to look more like the cash advance line at MoneyGram.

  • RIP Steve Sabol, The Man Who Changed The Way We Watch The NFL

Today, Steve Sabol, the President of NFL Films, passed away at the age of 69. Sabol had been battling brain cancer for 18 months. For five decades, Sabol revolutionized the way America watched football. His creativity and insight earned him countless accolades, including 35 Emmys in categories such as writing, cinematography, directing, producing, and editing. “Steve Sabol was the creative genius behind the remarkable work of NFL Films,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “Steve’s passion for football was matched by his incredible talent and energy. Steve’s legacy will be part of the NFL forever. He was a major contributor to the success of the NFL, a man who changed the way we look at football and sports, and a great friend.”

  • Mike Tyson’s Abandoned 1980s Mansion in Southington, Ohio

In the 1980′s it was looking like Mike Tyson would go down as the greatest boxer of all time. (See: Mike Tyson Savage Knockouts) He was on top of the world making money hand over fist and built this 5-bedroom, 10,000 square foot house on a 60-acre property in Southington, Ohio. Why in Southington, Ohio we may never know but Tyson spared no expense. The house features an indoor pool, full outdoor basketball court, and tiger cages on-site. The all-night dance parties were probably unbelievable.

It has all the elements that make outstanding content. Sports, party animals, beautiful women and original tailgate photos that you have never seen before. We spend hours and hours each weekend curating these photos from the far reaches on the web and we’re proud to see that the word is getting out. This week’s Punch Bowl features several photos  submitted by RSVLTS readers so thanks to everyone who has spotted themselves, their friends or their school and shared the story via Facebook or Twitter.

  • Not The Real Rudy

Just saw this commercial before the Notre Dame vs Michigan State game. Awesome appearance from Notre Dame Heisman trophy winner Tim Brown and Sean Astin.

  • Derek Jeter: 38-year-old hit machine

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter enters Saturday’s game against the Rays with 197 hits this season. He’s 38 years old. When he reaches 200 — and he will, barring some kind of awful slump or an extended injury absence — he’ll become only the fifth player in major-league history to accrue 200 hits in his age-38 season or later.

  • RSVLTS.com X Shaun White

Back in August Shaun White took over a 7-11 in New York City to launch his new Mintacular Stride gum. Here are some pictures from the event so check them out and watch our interview if you havent already.

  • Chad Johnson is Devoted

Chad Johnson may be a lot of things and call him what you want; Loud, outspoken, attention whore, nice guy, alleged head butter… but dont forget to leave out “devoted”. Through all the hype surrounding Chad, he’s been incredibly passionate and focused on everything he can get his mind around. His football career, his fitness, his reputation, and strangely enough, his wife. Our good friend and former Assistant Director on Hard Knocks, Alicia Lauren has seen it all on and off the field. She has seen some pretty incredible football drama over those five years but nothing quite as big as the Chad Johnson situation that took place in August. Alicia witnessed it all happen first hand which was difficult because she has known Chad for a few years and developed a great relationship with him from when they worked together on the 2009 season of Cincinnati HardKnocks. While filming the final episode of the season, NFL Films wanted to tie up all the story lines from the previous four shows and give viewers a real perspective on what kind of guy Johnson really is. With all the recent events and Chad Johnson being such a huge part of the series, more »

  • Tony Hawk Honors 9/11 Victims with Cool Stunt

Cantor Fitzgerald donates all of its global revenues every September 11th to charity groups. The Tony Hawk Foundation is participating this year, and as a sort of a thank you, Hawk skated through the trading floor earlier this morning.

  • Meet the Man Behind the SportsCenter Theme Song

Pretty cool short documentary about John Colby, the man who composed the notorious “dadada dadada” theme song for the most Bro show of all time, ESPN’s SportsCenter. It’s the six notes that haunts my dreams with Fantasy Football updates.

  • Robert Griffin III’s Dazzling NFL Debut In High Quality

To say that Robert Griffin III was anything short of amazing in his NFL debut would be an understatement. Both he and Andrew Luck threw for over 300 yards but RG3 did it with a NFL leading 139.9 quarterback rating in a stunning win over the heavily favored New Orleans Saints. There is no way of predicting how RG3 will perform once teams begin to dissect film of the Redskins offense but one thing is for sure, people on the internet love RG3 and yesterday was a great day for football.

  • RSVLTS.com Party At Citi Field

Windows Phone + The Roosevelts said sayonara to summer by taking in one last night at the ballpark. We kicked back in the Delta Club Suite with a few cold brews and enjoyed the last few days of NYC heat as the Mets took on the Atlanta Braves. Thanks to our friends KFC and Brendan (BarstoolSports NYC), Z (CollegeHumor), Charlie (Men’s Fitness), Rob (BustedCoverage), Joseph (Radar), Aimee (BleacherReport) Javier (MKTG), and Chris (KineticSocial) who joined us. A massive rain storm rolled through during the 6th inning so we got to head inside for an extended open bar during the delay. After the game started back up Jason Heyward hit a foul ball into our box and it was scooped up by Javier.

  • Honest NFL Logos

Loving this new trend of the truth being told about NFL teams. Earlier this week it was ‘Every NFL Fan in 90 Seconds’ (see above) and now Grantland produced this Honest NFL Logos graphic.

  • The 25 Best High School Football Uniforms

All thirty two NFL teams got new uniforms courtesy of Nike this year, and several college football teams got a new look prior to the season, but what about high school teams? Adidas, Under Armour and Nike rolled out new logos, patterns, and base layer protection for the field. Now the only thing left to do is decide who’s got the varsity look, and who is still stuck on the JV level.

  • Cliff Diving In Pembrokeshire, South Wales [22 High Quality Photos]

You’re about to meet a group of the most badass athletes in the world. Professional cliff divers hurl themselves off of 80 foot cliffs, do a few tricks on the way down and land with little to no splash. That’s if the dive goes right. Unlike the Olympics where a belly flop might knock the wind out of you there is no margin for error in professional cliff diving. One slipup and your is big big trouble.  Just take a look at this girl who failed, and that was only like 50 feet. Below you’ll see 22 high quality photos from the Red Bull Cliff Diving Championships that is taking place September 7-8 in one of my favorite places in the world, Pembrokeshire, South Wales just outside of a really interesting town named St. David. Word to the wise, do not try this at home.

  • RSVLTS.com College Football Preview: Week 2

  • The Ultimate “This Is SportsCenter” Collection [96 Videos]

33 years ago today ESPN was born in Bristol, CT and they haven’t looked back since. With the help of creative agency Wieden+Kennedy “This Is SportsCenter” commercials have become engrained in sports culture. Nearly 100 have been produced since Hollywood stars Cam Neeley (Dumb & Dumber) and Roger Clemens (Kingpin) tried to find Bristol, CT in 1994. I’ve heard they were both pretty good at sports too. Since then Tiger Wood, Derek Jeter and the biggest names in sports have taken a crack at comedy. Everyone except Michael Jordan but that’s ok. This week the best “This Is SportsCenter” commercial to date (in our opinion) was released starring John Clayton. We jumped on the video early before it even hit the 200 view mark and incredibly the video has 850,000 views on YouTube in less than 24 hours. With the new commercial burning up the web and the birthday of TV’s best sports channel we look back at the history of this epic franchise with a playlist of “This Is SportsCenter” commercial ever. Start the playlist below to watch every “This Is SportsCenter” commercial ever…
