  • Ranking Subway’s Athlete Roster from Worst to First

When they aren’t having adults speak like children, or promoting avocados like they are extinct, Subway has some pretty awful commercials. Despite that fact, they have a very impressible roster of professional athletes. Subway claims to be the “official training restaurant” of said sports’ stars… which sounds like a load of crap, but who are we to argue? Outside of the major athletic gear companies, you’d be hard pressed to find another company that boasts as much talent as Subway. I wanted to rank them by their acting performances, but the commercials are so bad, they don’t really provide anyone the opportunity to shine, so lets rank em by their athletic accomplishments for no reason.*

  • Why Dwight Howard Has Played His Last Game With The Lakers

The postseason is over for one of the most disappointing Los Angeles Laker teams in history. At the center of it is Dwight Howard. Los Angeles was the focal point for what was probably the only interesting storyline at the end of the regular season, but the all the air left the tires once the post-season started. The Lakers made us all believe in a dream, then they splashed the water on our faces and woke us up. The biggest question of the Lakers off-season is the same one as last year. Will Dwight Howard wear the purple and gold next year?

  • Dejected Faces of Toronto Maple Leafs Fans [17 Photos]

The Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t made it to the NHL Playoffs in nine years, so when they went into the third period of game 7 against the Boston Bruins, with a two goal lead and 90 seconds lwft, the fans partying on the streets of Toronto had a lot to cheer about. Then one of the most epic collapses in hockey history occurred and the Bruins pulled off a come from behind victory for the ages. Lucky for us, photographers, Rick Madonik and Vince Talotta were there to capture the pure dejection. Not that we want to throw salt in the wound of Maple Leaf fans, but while Boston was cheering this is what was happening up in Toronto.

  • Roger Federer vs. A Fly (Video)

For Roger’s latest swat conquest, he takes on the illusive fly. A commercial released today for the Nike Free Trainer 5.0, shows how the shoe mimics the natural motion of the foot with its Chinese finger trap-inspired upper and Nike Free sole. See what fate the little buzzer suffers as Fererer tries his best to use his tennis skills in house.

  • Good Guy Matt Kemp

There were no reporters. No TV cameras. This was not a publicity stunt. The Good Man Project tells us how Matt Kemp did an amazing thing for a young Dodgers’ fan who is battling cancer.

  • Gretzky vs Lemieux: The Best NHL Player of All Time (Infographic)

The Great One is The Great One, everyone knows this, but was he really the best NHL player to ever play the game? This infographic, by Medical Insurance (of all websites), shows the comparison of Wayne “The Great One” Gretzky vs “Super” Mario Lemieux and the results may surprise you. Mario had to put his career to a halt because of a battle with cancer, but came back stronger and arguably better in his twilight years. The deal breaker in the match might have to go to hotter daughter, in which case, we know who the winner is.

  • First Look At Minnesota Vikings’ New Stadium Design

At the end of the 2013 football season the Minnesota Vikings will vacate the 31-year-old Metrodome and play outside at the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium for two years while the new venue is under construction. Two years of hard time outdoors will pay off for fans as the team will move back indoors in 2016. From the look of the new 65,000-seat building, though, they’ll feel a little like they’re playing in the elements, albeit with a controlled climate and protection from the rain, wind and snow. Opening the roof over the new home of the Minnesota Vikings would have forced planners of the $975 million project to eliminate some of the fancy features. So the team, the public agency in charge of the stadium and the architects designing it literally saw the light. The yet-to-be-named multi-purpose facility will have a translucent roof and moveable front windows. “Clear is the new retractable,” designer Bryan Trubey said of the mock-up for Minnesota’s new, glass-centric indoor stadium. The steeply pitched roof will let natural light stream in, making the covered, glass-centric stadium seem more like it’s outside. Trubey said the covering will be the world’s largest transparent roof.

  • Scenes From Mothers Day 2013 Around Major League Baseball [15 High Quality Photos]

Major League Baseball honored Mother’s across America yesterday with the annual tradition that sees players using pink bats, pink arm bands, even the bases and line-up cards are pink. Much of this equipment is auctioned off after the game to raise money for breast cancer research. Mother’s Day seemed to produce a flair for the dramatic this year with Chris Sale tossing a one-hitter against the Los Angeles Angels. All in all it was a great day and if you couldn’t make it to the ballpark because you were meeting up with Mom here are a few pictures from about MLB.

  • Watch HBO’s “A Courtship of Rivals” Magic Johnson and Larry Bird Documentary

For years, the passion they shared for winning made Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Larry Bird the most bitter of rivals. It also made theirs the most compelling rivalry in sports, driving the NBA to new heights of popularity in the 1980s. This HBO documentary “A Courtship of Rivals” tells the riveting story of two superstars who couldn’t have been more different until they forged an unlikely friendship from the superheated rivalry that had always kept them apart.

  • Rangers or Islanders: Which New York Team Has a Better Chance at Winning the Stanley Cup?

It is a good year for New York hockey with both the Rangers and the Islanders in the playoffs.  The Rangers are currently tied with the Capitals in their series, while the Islanders are behind the Penguins 3-2.  Both teams are in similar situations as they go up against quality teams with great individual talents in Washington’s Alex Ovechkin and Pittsburgh’s Sydney Crosby.  The question is; do either one of these teams have what it takes to go all the way?

  • Why Jon Jones is the Best Fighter in the World

Jon Jones is considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound fighter on planet Earth.  He recently defended his title for the fifth time, tying Tito Ortiz on the list of most successful title defenses in the Light Heavyweight division (5). His record shows one loss, but that came as a result of an illegal elbow thrown after he knocked his opponent out. Aside from that blemish on his record, he has dominated the Light Heavyweight division with absolute ease with an 18-1 record.  During his latest fight against Chael Sonnen, he won with a first round knockout in a display of physical dominance.  Here are the reasons why he is the best.

  • 7 Need To Know Facts About Sir Alex Ferguson

Since joining the team in 1986, Ferguson has turned Man U into the best team in England and the most popular sports team on Earth. If there was a Mount Rushmore for soccer Ferguson would certainly be on it so let’s take a look at some fascinating facts to give you an idea of this larger than life figure:

  • High School & College Scouting Reports For 28 MLB Greats

MLB scouts have a tough job. Each year they check out thousands of talented baseball players and have to make a snap judgement on whether or not their team should spend millions of dollars draft the player. Then, when the draft takes place and literally hundreds of players are drafted only a fraction will ever make a MLB club and from that small pool only a fraction will become MLB all-stars.

  • From Attempted Suicide to MLB Superstar: The Life and Very Complicated Times of Ken Griffey Jr.

Despite spending the last decade or so of his career often injured, Ken Griffey Jr. was a 13-time All-Star, a 10-time Gold Glove winner, a seven-time Silver Slugger award winner, 1997 MVP, 6th all-time in career home runs with 630, and he accumulated nearly 80 WAR (more on “WAR” in the Bonus Facts below). Any number you look at, it’s clear Ken Griffey Jr., nicknamed “The Kid,” was one of the greatest players ever to step onto a baseball field. He became a superstar when he was only 19 years old, starting in center field for the Seattle Mariners in 1989. But just because someone is successful, famous, and rich (it’s estimated he made over $150 million during his playing career) doesn’t mean they can’t be sad or, even, depressed. After becoming one of the biggest can’t-miss prospects in baseball history, at the age of 18 the man who would not only be known for that beautiful swing, but also for his infectious and seemingly constant smile, attempted suicide.

  • What is Chip Kelly’s Plan at Quarterback?

When Chip Kelly came to the Eagles, it seemed more than obvious that he was going to run a similar high paced offense to the one he ran at Oregon that was notorious for blowing out teams in the PAC 12.  The offense seemed a certain fit with the already mobile Michael Vick at quarterback.  At Oregon, Chip Kelly always had a mobile guy at the helm, so Michael Vick and the Eagles made sense for him.  Vick has the speed and mobility to run a spread option offense to its fullest.  He had great success doing it at Virginia Tech and it’s about time a NFL head coach is playing to his strengths, instead of forcing him to stay in the pocket.  He is a 6’0″ and 215 pound running quarterback, not a 6’5″ 235 pound pocket passer.  Conversely, the Eagles have a pocket passer in Nick Foles that is bigger than that standing 6’6″ 243 pounds.

  • “Shep Diagram” GIFS Are Changing How We View MLB’s Top Pitchers

The “Shep Diagram” is a new way to view the mastery of the top pitchers in Major League Baseball. It all began in late April when a savvy baseball fan named DShep created a GIF of Yu Darvish showing all five of his pitchers layered over each other. The fascinating GIF showing the consistency of his release point, paired with his amazing ball movement, was picked up all over the web. This form of analyzing pitchers has since been coined the “Shep Diagram” it is beginning to cross over to the mainstream as MLB Network created their own Shep Diagram for Justin Verlander. DShep, now working with Fangraphs, has promised many new creations to come. He has said that DA Dickey and Clay Buchholz are on the docket but for now enjoy the original Yu Darvish Shep Diagram and MLB Network’s Justin Verlander version.

  • 4 Reasons The Jets Shouldn’t Be Excited About Geno Smith

This past weekend during the NFL draft, the Jets had a must need at quarterback and therefore selected record breaking quarterback Geno Smith out of West Virginia in the second round, with only one quarterback off of the draft board.  This may have a lot of Jets fans smiling, but don’t let the Jet’s get your hopes up only to be stomped out in a mockery of a season.  Here are three reasons why Jet fans shouldn’t be excited for Geno Smith.

  • Why LeBron James is the Most Underpaid Athlete in Sports (infographic)

What if I told you LeBron was underpaid by an amount 90% of NBA players don’t make in a year. Even though LeBron is the best player in the NBA right now, he’s still one of the most underpaid athletes in the country. Given all the money the Cavs made during his time with them compared to the money the Heat made upon his arrival, LeBron makes for one lucrative money maker. This infographic proves the intangibles LeBron brings to the table. The difference in all aspects since his departure from Cleveland, over to his grand entrance to Miami.

  • Does College Football Signing Day Mean Anything Anymore?

The days of the four year college quarterback may be numbered. As more talent emerges from all over the country, the pool of talented players is bigger than it’s ever been. Our transparent digital world gives them more visibility than ever before, and they see that they have options beyond staying in any one given place. Of the Top 18 Quarterbacks of the 2012, only five are with their original teams. Why does this happen? Why would top recruited players not choose to stay in some of the best college football programs?

  • Ranking the Top 25 MLB Prospects by Name

There are 2 types of baseball fans these days – the saber “stat-nerds” and the old school “I saw it with my own eyes” crowd. I’m about to attempt… nay, prove, that there is another type of talent evaluation. I don’t judge books by their cover; I judge them by their name… which I guess would technically be on the cover but… I got nothing. I know some have their theories about names translating to success, but I have never been wrong. Never. Not 15 times. I remember grasping at straws, trying to convince my friends that “Lastings Milledge” sounded like a superstar from the 1920s, but I knew deep down he never had a shot at Major League success… not now, not with that name. So without further ado, I present my foolproof (proof that I am a fool) breakdown of Baseball America’s 2013 top 25 prospects… by name only.
