  • Manhattan Beach Bachelor Pad With Ocean Views [15 Photos]

If you’re dreaming of beautiful California beaches this Manhattan Beach property designed by Rockefeller Partners Architects features beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and Malibu coastline. Working within the confines of a narrow 30 x 90-foot envelope, the design team pushed the house to the limits of height, width, and depth, which left little perimeter space to satisfy the client’s desire for a garden. The solution was to create an open green space in the center of the structure, at the ground floor level. On one side of this are the children’s rooms, on the other are the master bedroom and bath, which open to what has become an interior Zen garden. • Fascinating Then and Now Mad Men Infographics

This past weekend, Mad Men returned to AMC for its sixth and penultimate season. With only 26 episodes remaining in the series, some of us are already starting to feel reflective while anticipating the premiere. The impact the show has had on modern culture can’t be overestimated, its influence permeating everything from filmmaking to fashion. But while it’s been steadily making everything old new again, we can’t help but wonder what things would look like if Don Draper and company were heading to work in 2013. The brilliant designers at Shutterstock.com set their sights on the main Mad Men characters with that in mind, choosing an everyday symbol from their daily lives and transforming it through a 21-century lens. While most of these folks would be doing very similar work today, the tools they use to get it done would be quite different. (Just imagine what Peggy could accomplish with a MacBook at her disposal.) Read on to see what a difference a half-century can make.

  • Photo of the Day: The Terminator Line

Explanation: No sudden, sharp boundary marks the passage of day into night in this gorgeous view of ocean and clouds over our fair planet Earth. Instead, the shadow line or terminator is diffuse and shows the gradual transition to darkness we experience as twilight. With the Sun illuminating the scene from the right, the cloud tops reflect gently reddened sunlight filtered through the dusty troposphere, the lowest layer of the planet’s nurturing atmosphere. A clear high altitude layer, visible along the dayside’s upper edge, scatters blue sunlight and fades into the blackness of space. This picture actually is a single digital photograph taken in June of 2001 from the International Space Station orbiting at an altitude of 211 nautical miles. The legendary basketball game “H-O-R-S-E” has recieved a digital upgrade for the 21st century and you can play along with all your friends. The rules are simple: Visit http://www.uversehorse.com/ during the Michigan vs Louisville 2013 National Championship Game on Monday, April 8th starting at 9:23 pm. Pick a team and play against friends and guess where their team is going to shoot (and score from). Your team then has one minute to shoot from that location. If the shot is made then the opposing team has to shoot from the same spot or they will be assigned a letter (H, etc) If the shot isn’t taken or is missed, you lose a turn and the opposing player will get a chance to select a spot on the court. Gameplay continues back and forth in real-time throughout the televised game. As each player fails to duplicate the shot made by the other player they earn a letter in the word HORSE. First person to spell HORSE loses. Hat tip: Heavy.com

PF Flyers and 20th Century Fox have teamed up for the release of the limited edition PF Flyers. Yes the ones that let Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez jump higher and run faster and retrieve the priceless Babe Ruth ball from the lair of The Beast. To me it’s amazing how The Sandlot doesn’t have a 100 on Rotten Tomatoes. It was by far the quintessential 90′s kid movie for everyone I’ve ever came in contact with. The movie was full of lessons that paved the way for manhood. Smalls having the guts to jump into the lions den to make friends. Squints having the stones to scheme a plan to get the smoke show of a lifetime and of course Benny taking on the Beast in the most epic chase scene ever to grace the silver screen.
