Today would have been Jackie Robinson’s 94th birthday so as the world pays tribute we pulled together 42 of his most iconic and rarest photos. 42 being the number that he wore when he broke the color barrier with the Dodgers and a number that has since been permanently retired from baseball.
On April 15, 1947 Jackie Robinson did the impossible by breaking the color barrier in the major leagues. He paved the way for many of the all-time greats and was also one himself, the stats speak for them self – 10 seasons for the Brooklyn Dodgers, NL Rookie of the Year in 1947, MVP in 1949, lef the Dodgers to six league pennants, a World Series title in 1955 and first ballot Hall of Famer in 1962. Along with his ability on the field Jackie was a leader in the civil rights movement alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On this Jackie Robinson Day we honor the legend by taking a look at his most iconic images along with a handful of rare images that you may have not seen.
