  • The Value of Professional Sports Trophies (infographic)

Each professional sports championship trophy is priceless from a historical and sentimental value standpoint. but what about weight in melted down value. All of the trophies, with exception to Lord Stanley’s Cup were created in the late ’60s early ’70s, welded together in the fires of Mordor. We’ll maybe not, but each holds significant meaning to each sport and are cherished like relics of ancient times. Side note; Each ring around the Stanley Cup is engraved with the names of each player and coach of it’s winner and when there is not more room, the oldest ring is removed and retired at the Hockey Hall of Fame, to bring in a new era of champions.

  • Babe Ruth’s Home Runs in Perspective (Infographic)

Babe Ruth’s home run numbers compared to the players of today are impressive. Compared to his peers they are basically unfathomable. An attempt to put them in perspective. In 1920 The Sultan of Swat hit more home runs than every team in the league except the Phillies and in 1921 hit more than the second and third leaders on the list combined.

  • High School & College Scouting Reports For 28 MLB Greats

MLB scouts have a tough job. Each year they check out thousands of talented baseball players and have to make a snap judgement on whether or not their team should spend millions of dollars draft the player. Then, when the draft takes place and literally hundreds of players are drafted only a fraction will ever make a MLB club and from that small pool only a fraction will become MLB all-stars.

  • Take Me Out To The Beer Game

Long gone are the days of peanuts and crackerjacks at the ballgames. Today’s fans have moved beyond this bygone soundtrack and have caught up with the rest of the country’s obsession with the craft beer movement. Yes, getting a beer in any stadium is probably going to cost you no less than your first born, but the options are no longer limited to the mass produced swill that has plagued the American brewfront since before the 21st Amendment was passed. Here in the Big Apple, we are no stranger to either. Although it is only recently we are starting to see the merger of baseball and craft beer to an acceptable level for some beer geeks. With local heroes like Brooklyn Brewery showing up in both of New York’s MLB stadiums, Citi Field goes beyond, sticking with the flagship lager and a few popular bottles, as an option. In fact, a day at the Queens ballpark will turn up no less than five varieties of Brooklyn Brewery beers, as well as brews from Long Island’s Blue Point. While local and true craft options may be a bit lacking, you can still find options from from breweries who may be owned more »

  • Why 100 MPH Pitchers Are The New Normal For MLB [Infographic]

As Major League Baseball prepares to open its season Sunday, high-octane pitching is dominating the game as never before. One day it’s the Cincinnati Reds’ Aroldis Chapman, the”Cuban Missile,” firing 103-mile-per-hour fastballs out of the bullpen. The next, starters like the Washington Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg and the Tampa Bay Rays’ David Price are clocking triple digits deep into games when they should be tiring. In 2003, there was only one pitcher who threw at least 25 pitches 100 mph or faster. In 2012, there were seven. A growing number of fastball pitchers are throwing at speeds reached by only a handful of hurlers a decade ago. This infographic explains why the velocity revolution hit warp speed, and what it means for baseball.

  • 5 GIFs that prove Mike Trout should have won the Gold Glove

Mike Trout didn’t win the Gold Glove. He should have. I assume it’s because some managers felt a rookie didn’t deserve it. A rookie wasn’t worthy of such a high accolade. They’re wrong. The highlight reel doesn’t always tell the whole story but in the case of Mike Trout, it tells us enough. It tells us that this guy is capable of things other guys at his position aren’t. Let’s take a look at some of his best catches of 2012.
