  • The 26 Most Incredible Moments From The 2012 MLB Regular Season

2012 was one of the most memorable seasons in recent MLB history. It was the year of the pitcher but there were also several incredible hitting performances as well. We went through the archives and pulled together the most impressive highlights from the regular season to gear up for playoff action. If you think we missed anything let us know about it on Twitter @RSVLTS.

  • 2012 Is The Year Of The Pitcher [25 High Quality Photos]

2012 is being dubbed the year of the pitcher. Matt Cain’s perfect game was the second no-hitter in less than a week, following a six-pitcher combined effort by the Mariners on June 8, the third of the month going back to Johan Santana’s gem on June 1 and the fifth of the season. If things keep up at this rate we will finish the season with a whopping 14 no-hitters, nearly doubling the single season record of 8 set in 1884. With this ongoing trend the odds of being able to cross “See a No-Hitter” off our Windows Phone Baseball Bucket List seem more likely than ever.  Be it luck or randomness  there has to be an explanation, the increased number is helped along by the collision of a few long-term trends, some of which are nestled inside of others. If you want to get to the bottom of the case check out Jay Jaffe’s examination into the numbers behind the rise in no-hitters and see this Baseball In High Resolution look at the year of the pitcher.
