    2012 was an incredible year for sport. Records broken, if not shattered. Olympics fever was at an all time high. Feats of speed and strength awed crowds. The fastest man in the world left us speechless, while the reigning boxing champion of the world lay unconscious, face in the canvas. Heroes retired from their respective games, whether riding off into the sunset for a curtain call, or face in hands, hanging in shame. We’ve experienced bevy of sports controversies, as well as mountain top triumphs, and all tell their respective stories in photos. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of moments that could have been included in this list but we’ve weeded through them all and narrowed it down to the 100 most powerful sports images of 2012.
