17 Rare Photos Of JFK And Children Celebrating Halloween In The White House In 1963

On October 31, 1963, President John F Kennedy and wife Jacqueline celebrated Halloween at the White House with children Caroline and John Jr., nephew Stephen Smith Jr, and niece Maria Shriver (former Mrs. Schwarzenegger). It was a rough time for the family, as their youngest child, Patrick, had died just a couple months earlier in August, two days after being born five-and-a-half weeks prematurely. JFK is enjoying the visit from his costumed children in the candid and touching photos, which are made more powerful by the fact that Kennedy himself would be assassinated just three weeks later in Dallas, Texas.
