Thanks in no small part to the success of John Wick and its recently released sequel, Hollywood is starting to pay serious attention to R-rated action films again. But it’s not just leading men like Keanu Reeves who are getting in on the fun.
Many John Wick fans were upset to hear that co-director David Leitch wouldn’t be involved with the sequel, but now we can finally have a look at what he was working on instead. Atomic Blonde stars Charlize Theron as MI6 Agent Lorraine Broughton, the most lethal assassin in the intelligence service. Set in 1989, Broughton is sent on a mission to Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, where she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies — kicking ass along the way.
