Stranger Things is basically an ode to childhood in the ’80s — albeit a terrifying one — so it makes total sense that when it finally received the video game treatment, it did so in total retro glory.
Stranger Things: The Game is a retro adventure game that just dropped for iOS and Android. Sure, the 16-bit graphics look more like a Super Nintendo game from the ’90s than blocky 8-bit Atari 2600 graphics, but even those SNES games are more than 20 years old at this point, so we’ll let it slide.
In the game, players start out as Chief Hopper and unlock more characters, each of which possesses unique abilities, as they progress. Although action-oriented, there are plenty of puzzles to be solved and best of all, the game was designed with a touchscreen in mind so there is none of that cumbersome virtual button nonsense.
Stranger Things: The Game is available now for iOS and Android devices. Oh yeah, and it’s free!
