Watch Bryan Bickell Take To The Ice One Last Time With The Chicago Blackhawks

On Thursday night, Bryan Bickell made his triumphant return to the Chicago Blackhawks — so he could say goodbye.

Bryan Bickell spent nine seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, including three Stanley Cup-winning seasons in 2010, 2013 and 2015, before moving to the Carolina Hurricanes for the 2016-17 season. Unfortunately, Bickell soon experienced health issues and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis last November. A few months later, Bickell returned to the ice but soon after announced his retirement, playing his last game on April 9.

Over the summer, Bickell was honored at the 2017 NHL Awards and it was apparent that he deserved more before leaving the NHL.

On October 4, the Blackhawks announced that Bickell had been signed to a one-day contract so he could end his NHL career just as he started it: in Chicago. The next night, Bickell received the ultimate hero’s welcome and farewell from his teammates and fans in the Windy City.

Oh yeah, and the Penguins totally got destroyed, 10-1.
