In life, there are few films that truly grab hold of you, ones that make you feel every emotion of their characters or transport you into such an immersive world that it feels like you’re actually there. Jaws is one of those rare films that does it all, and it does it perfectly.
Fifty years ago today, Steven Spielberg made audiences everywhere just a little more hesitant to dip their toes into the ocean. Beachgoers squinted at jagged driftwood, convinced they were shark fins. A piece of seaweed brushing a leg could cause a full-blown panic. For the last five decades, fans have rewatched, quoted, and made the trek to iconic filming locations in hopes of getting closer to the movie they love. Posters have hung proudly on bedroom walls, soundtracks have echoed through homes, and epic merchandise has helped fans of all ages commemorate their favorite moments from this legendary tale. Like a fine wine, Jaws has only gotten better with age. Whether it’s your 5th or 50th viewing, every time feels like the first. And just when you think you’re ready to move on, it pulls you right back in.
Needless to say, the whole RSVLTS HQ crew are massive fans of Jaws. To say we were ecstatic about getting to work on this iconic property would be an understatement. Our team dove in headfirst and came up with not one, but two incredible collections. As a brand filled with movie fans, we set out to honor this legendary franchise while giving each design our signature RSVLTS spin. From nods to the heart-pounding opening scene to a shirt that pays tribute to the film’s harrowing final moments, our debut collection captured the spirit of the film in a bold new way. But like the great white, we weren’t done yet.
As the 50th anniversary surfaced, we knew we had to do something special. Series Two had to deliver the same level of care and detail as the first—and we think it does. This new collection pays homage to the town of Amity and the characters that made the story so memorable. Whether you want to channel your inner Chief Brody or hit the docks like Mayor Larry Vaughn, we wanted to leave no stone unturned. Working on projects tied to classic films is always a thrill for us. We’re movie lovers at heart, and getting closer to the properties we idolized as kids only deepens our connection to them, making that love grow deeper.
