Storytelling. It’s the engine of everything we do, yet sometimes we move so fast that the story gets left in the dust we kick up. Our collections launch, they sell, we move on. To the outside world it can look like a cycle of “launch, repeat.” But anyone who has ever stood inside this workshop of ours knows better. Every stitch, every sketch, every revision… we care. We care deeply. And now, we want to lift the hood and show exactly where our heads and our hearts go when we build something new.
We chose Star Wars for our inaugural varsity jacket because, honestly, who tells a better story than George Lucas? This universe shaped generations. What better place to start than with a saga defined by myth, hope, conflict, and the eternal pull between two forces?
We began developing this jacket back in December 2023. We weren’t looking to reinvent the varsity jacket, this silhouette is iconic for a reason. Instead, we set out to honor it while crafting something unmistakably ours. Every choice was intentional: the weight of the wool, the feel and finish of the sleeves, even the length of the wool hair. This wasn’t a technical exercise it was an act of stewardship without the restrictions of time. Respect what’s timeless, elevate what can be better. Think about tradition (varsity lettering and nameplate), while also creating something that breaks the mold of whats been done, something that tells a story with one simple, yet iconic, silhouette. All individually numbered from 1 to 421. Treat it like a traditional varsity jacket… but give it a soul of its own, sealed with a kunu liner.
The Balance of the Force.
The Patches. the visual language of the story we wanted to tell.
The dueling lightsabers symbolize the eternal dance of dark and light, the heartbeat of Star Wars itself.
The split Imperial Crest/Rebellion Starbird echoes that same duality: two ideologies colliding over power, order, hope, and freedom.
The light blue nameplate nods to the iconic opening message before the trumpets lead that heroic melody, tweaked with a cursive font to anchor us in varsity tradition. That color threads itself throughout the jacket, from the sabers to the burst of hyperspace across the back patch.
And then there’s the silhouette, the data transfer between Princess Leia and R2-D2, perhaps the most important detail of all. Instead of showing the hyperspace centered with the graphic, it's set where Leia places the data card containing the Stardust plans and holographic message for Obi-Wan into into R2's memory slot. This is where the saga truly begins: a message, a spark, a daring plea that would ignite a rebellion.
It was incredibly important to keep this imagery on the back. Leia is the linchpin that brings the story together and R2 functions as our narrator for the entire Saga. In this world, he is our storyteller.
It’s a reminder of how stories start small, quiet, almost fragile… and then reshape galaxies.
This jacket is an homage to the trilogy that started it all. A tribute to the storytellers who captivated the world, and to the generations of dreamers, creators and especially us kids who just wanted an escape to a galaxy where adventure never ends.
Almost fifty years later, the story is still pulling us in. And George, thank you for giving us a universe worth getting lost in.
